While the tree takes a lot of preparation from Mike and the team before they start building—untangling and testing lights, reinforcing the large platform, etc.—but the build itself is now down to a science. It takes just a couple days to build, and a couple more to add all the lights. To kick off the summer, Genesee Brew House is transforming its beer garden into a tropical oasis, complete with special décor and menu. Identifying common spiders

Accurate identification of thin legged spiders requires the use of a macro lens to get a picture that shows the spines on the tibia.
Micrathena spiders
The web structure includes one or more 'funnel-like' entrances to the spider’s retreat, which is sometimes misunderstood as a Funnel-web Spider web. However, Black House Spiders are not at all related to Australian funnel-webs, nor similar in appearance, size or life history. The retreat of a true Australian Funnel-web Spider (famiy Atracidae) is usually less funnel-like and is often a burrow in the ground. The picture shows Hogna frondicola, an Indiana wolf spider species with no common name.

Cellar spiders are commonly found in attics, basements, crawl spaces, and undisturbed corners of rooms. Shining a flashlight at ground level will often allow one to see the green eye shine on this spider reflected from feet away, depending on the spider’s size. Wolf spiders are rarely pests, but they sometimes wander into houses, where their large size often frightens homeowners. Female wolf spiders leave scent markings so males can find them to mate. After mating, female wolf spiders lay several dozen or more eggs and wrap them in silk, creating an egg sac. The northern yellow sac spider is a type of garden spider that sometimes finds its way into homes. This small yellow spider has an identifiable egg-shaped abdomen with a pointed end and dark brown markings on its face and the tips of its legs.
Discarding piles of old paper and boxes and keeping your home clean can also help to reduce potential spots where the spider may seek out shelter. The young wolf spiders look much the same as the adults, although their coloring may vary or change as they grow. Mother spiders may sometimes be seen with the young riding on their backs or bellies until they are independent enough to go off on their own. On the other hand, the wolf spider will make little to no webs at all.
Black widow spiders have a characteristic red hourglass marking contrasting with a shiny black oval, ball-like body. The cellar spider is easy to spot in homes because of its long spindly legs and tiny, egg-shaped, brown body. Although this small brown spider only measures 0.08” to 0.39” (2 – 10 mm), it has an enormous leg span of 2” (50 mm).

Wolf spiders tend to be brownish-gray and can grow just over an inch in length. Wolf spiders are often confused with the Brown recluse, but they lack the unmistakable violin-shaped marking behind the head. Wolf spiders actively hunt during the night and usually rest in sheltered places during the day. Because of these habits, wolf spiders are commonly seen by people. The demonlike arachnids invading our homes this time of year are wolf spiders, but they are not as threatening as they appear.
Wolf Spiders range from about half an inch to 2 inches in length, with males being smaller than females. They are hairy and typically brown, grey or tan in color with distinct dark markings on their back, which is sometimes called a Union Jack impression. The spiders undersides are light grey, cream or black, sometimes salmon pink. Because they depend on camouflage for protection, wolf spiders do not have the flashy appearance of some other kinds of spiders. In general their coloration is appropriate to their favoured habitat.
Fishing spiders (Dolomedes spp.)
Getting rid of spiders in the lawn, landscape and garden is not recommended. These products are commonly found in ready-to-use aerosol and liquid forms. Most insecticides labeled for ants and cockroaches are also labeled for spiders.

They have light brown to dark brown bodies with an orange hourglass marking and are typically found in dark corners of garages and basements.
